This Privacy Policy explains how Textacy, a product of Telecom CJV LLC (“Textacy,” “we,” “us”), collects, uses and shares information when you use the Textacy mobile app for iPhone and Android, the website at textacy.com, and related services (together, the “Service”).
Information we collect
Account information. When you register, we collect details such as your name, email address and phone number, and the Textacy phone number you choose.
Communications. To deliver your messages and calls, the Service processes the content of the texts and picture messages you send and receive, and records about your calls and messages such as the numbers involved, time and duration.
Contacts. If you allow it, the app accesses the contacts on your device so you can see names in your conversations and start new ones. You can turn off contacts access at any time in your device settings.
Identifiers and diagnostics. We collect a user ID and device identifiers so the app works properly, along with crash reports and similar diagnostic data that help us fix problems.
Support requests. If you contact us, we keep the information you provide so we can respond.
How we use information
- To create and manage your account and your Textacy number.
- To send and deliver your messages and connect your calls.
- To personalize the app, such as showing your name and contacts.
- To diagnose problems, keep the Service reliable and improve it.
- To prevent spam, fraud and abuse, and to enforce our Terms of Service.
- To respond to your questions and support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run the Service:
- Telecommunications carriers and partners that route and deliver your calls and messages to the people you contact.
- Service providers that host our systems or provide crash reporting and support tools, under obligations to protect your information.
- Legal and safety reasons, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena or other legal process, or is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or Textacy.
- Business transfers, if Textacy or Telecom CJV LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
Retention
We keep information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, prevent abuse and meet legal, tax and regulatory requirements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
Your choices
- You can delete conversations in the app at any time.
- You can turn off contacts access and notifications in your device settings.
- You can ask us to access, correct or delete your account information, or to close your account, by emailing [email protected]. We may need to keep some records where the law requires it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your login details private.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above, and where appropriate we will notify you in the app or by email.
